From First Contact to the Finished Masterpiece

Curious about how the process of creating your unique portrait works? Here’s a step-by-step look at what to expect:

1️⃣ Getting to Know You

First, we’ll have an introductory conversation to discuss your ideas and choose the perfect format for your portrait.

Beforehand, think about:

• What kind of atmosphere do you want in your portrait?
• Do you already have a specific spot in your home in mind?
• Would you like a full-body portrait or just a head-and-shoulders piece?
  Sometimes, we combine this step with the first posing session (see below).

2️⃣ Posing Session(s)

I love to do this part at your home whenever possible. Meeting you in your own environment helps me understand who you are and what will make your portrait truly yours. It also makes you feel more comfortable and relaxed!

We’ll discuss backgrounds, clothing, and any objects you’d like to include. During the session(s), I’ll create an initial sketch and/or take reference photos. Depending on your preferences, a second or third posing session can be arranged.

3️⃣ Painting or Drawing

Back in my studio, I’ll start bringing your portrait to life. Throughout the process, I’ll keep you updated with photos and progress reports. If you have any ideas or feedback, you’re always welcome to share them!

4️⃣ The Big Reveal

This is the exciting part—when the finished portrait is ready to be unveiled!

Typically, we’ll do this in my studio, but I’m also happy to deliver it to your home if you’d like.

5️⃣ Varnishing (After One Year)

Oil paint takes about a year to fully cure. Once that’s done, I’ll apply a protective varnish to keep your portrait looking beautiful for years to come. You’re more than welcome to join me in the studio while I do this final step!

📏 Sizes & Pricing (for one subject)

Prices start from the base rate (excl. VAT) for a single subject. Additional people, pets, or complex backgrounds will increase the final cost.

• Extra Subjects or Pets: +50% per person/pet (from 45x60cm)
• Backgrounds & Objects (e.g. interior, landscape, instruments): +€100–€500 depending on complexity
• Rush Orders (delivery within 2 weeks): +20–30% surcharge
• Framing (optional): Pricing on request

🛠 Mediums & Surfaces

• Oil Paint on canvas or woodboard (varnished for durability)
• Charcoal Drawings on acid-free paper (must be framed to preserve)

📦 Delivery & Timeline

• Average completion time: 4–6 weeks, depending on size & complexity
• Shipping: Domestic deliveries at a fixed rate of €45; international shipping available on request
• Pick-up or local delivery: Available in Flanders

📋 Booking & Payment

• Deposit: 50% non-refundable to secure your spot and begin the work
• Balance: Due upon completion, before delivery/shipping
• Revisions: One round of small adjustments is included during the sketch phase; additional changes can be made for an extra fee
